This project thoroughly investigates how the design of an object can change the behaviour of the user, in the context of water conservation. This is demonstrated through two standalone product concepts. ‘Misaligned’ engages the users’ desire for order, to encourage them to turn off the tap more frequently. When the tap is on, it looks visually wrong and misaligned, encouraging the user to return the cube to alignment, thus turning off the water. ‘Retrofitted Reminder’ is a retrofitted indicator which attaches to the standard screw fitting on your faucet. As the water flows through your faucet, power is generated to illuminate the flashing LED. The flashing LED acts as a reminder that you are running the water.
